Thursday 29 March 2012

Thanks to all the parents who helped with another great Bay Suburbs event on Thursday. The Year 5/6 boys and girls really did the school proud with some excellent individual results from Ky, Brittany and Sophia.
It was a pleasure to watch the rest of the team get in behind our finalists and then support them in the pool with fantastic team relay results. Well done to all members of the team.

Bay Suburbs Swimming – Thursday 29th March

The Bay Suburbs Swimming Races are being held on Thursday at Sacred Heart College. Races are due to start at 9.30am.

The children will need to be at school by 8.45am and are to meet outside the office area. They will need to have their togs on underneath their sports uniforms and have with them:
·         their underwear
·         two towels
·         goggles and swimming caps
·         morning tea, lunch and drinks

Could all the parents who have indicated that they will help transport the children please also meet at the foyer at 8.45am.
For anyone wishing to make their way out to Sacred Heart to watch any of the races, the directions are:
Drive along Shore Road to the Orakei roundabout (beside Palmers), turn left and at the next roundabout turn right on to Kepa Road. Drive past Eastridge and at the intersection with Kohi Road turn right and after about 1km turn left into St Heliers Bay Road (you’ll see the pony club on your right). Turn right into West Tamaki Road off St Helier’s Bay Road and Sacred Heart College is 250 West Tamaki Road. The pool is at Gate 4 down a driveway.

We’re all looking forward to a great day! If you have any queries, please feel free to email me at antonyp@parnell.school.nz

Monday 19 March 2012

The Bay Suburbs Softball for all our Year 5 and 6 has been cancelled due to wet weather.

Sunday 18 March 2012

Congratulations to Isabella Morcom, Bianca Nagaiya and Stella Nightingale who all placed in the top eight at the Eastern Zone Swimming Tournament today. Isabella gained our highest placing with a third in the 100m freestyle. It was a tough race and she put in a great swim, against top class competition, well done. She has qualified for the Inter-Zones on Thursday, and will be racing against the best swimmers in the Auckland area.

Thanks again to Amanda, Veronica and Gael for helping with transport and timing. We would not be able to participate in these events if it were not for your time and assistance.

Next up is the Bay Suburbs meet. I will post the team under the 'Swimming' tab. Any assistance on the day would be most appreciated.

Thursday 8 March 2012

Thanks to all the parents that came along to the swimming sports. While the weather at Parnell Baths was only suitable for the seniors, all the staff and students at Cameron Pools had an enjoyable and exciting day.

The placings in the Year 3 - 8 swimming races are on the 'Results' tab. The top swimmers from each event in year 7 and 8 will be invited to the Eastern Zone Tournament on Monday the 19th March. The top swimmers from year 5 and 6 will be invited to the Bay Suburbs Tournament on Thursday the 29th of March. Permission slips and details are forthcoming.

Certificates will be handed out in Assembly and I will post some photos of the event next week.
