Bay Suburbs Basketball

Amazingly, both our Boys and Girls Year 5/6 matched the 7/8 by coming 3rd in their respective Zone tournaments at St Kents!

That's all four teams winning their 3rd and 4th play-off matches in a very competitive environment. Excellent committment at the end of a long day. Congratulations!

Year 4 - 8 Zone Cross Country

Muddy conditions underfoot but a beautiful day saw some spectacular performances in the Zones cross country. Thanks to parents who came to support!

Finn McCracken placed 2nd in the year 5 boys event (winning himself tickets to an Auckland Rugby match)!

Stella Nightengale (3rd), Ro'anis Lamond (4th) and Pearl McCraken (6th) will all go on to represent Parnell at the Auckland Interzones on the 20th September.

Well done and good luck!

North Island Primary School Ski Champs

Congratulations to our most successful Parnell Ski Team yet! In a dramatic week that saw 20cm of fresh snow fall before, (and during), the first days racing, we had Nick Morris earn a Bronze Medal in the Giant Slalom, skiing with a broken wrist! Tama Morris and Lilli Davies also finished the GS in the top 8 for their respective divisions and Tane Tarlton-Kraus (22nd), Darcey Pead-Kingdon (26th), Bella Barlow (34th), and Jamie McConnell (44th) all represented the school brilliantly. Oliver Dennehy (97th) and Tyler Doherty (124th) also got runs in, but Rachel Willison, Alexander Parr and Zac Saunders were unfortunate to miss out. Our final Team result of 2nd equal on points saw us finish just behind St Kents and Kristin but ahead of Kings, St Cuthberts and Southwell. A phenomenal result! The entire team were fantastic ambassadors of the school in our shared accommodation with Victoria Ave, Meadowbank and Pt Chev Primaries. Very special thanks to Richard Swan for organising our stay on the mountain and to John Doherty, Tracey Gieck, Di Craig, Fiona Oliver, Angus, Anna and Fiona Willison, Steve and Heather Davies, Simon Parr and John Dennehy for their time and commitment to the team. We couldn’t have done it without these parents and we all look forward to bringing home more medals next year!

Year 7 & 8 Eastern Zone Basketball

Further congratulations to the Parnell year 7 boys team! 1st in pool play and 3rd over all, against Kohi and St Heliers teams who had Auckland and New Zealand Reps!
The boys played tirelessly all day and really stepped up in the finals, beating a well drilled Churchill Park team in the play off for third and fourth. Once again we were supported by fellow classmates who had volunteered their time to assist with the running of the competition. All were great ambassadors for the school and we look forward to improving our skills in the Spring Basketball Series. Thanks again to the parents that assisted with transport and supported the team in the finals.
